DIY FIMO Glass marker for your New Year‘s Eve Party
Who hasn‘t been asked this question at a party before: „Was that my glass or yours?“
If you are one of those people who always carry their glass of champagne or wine around with them at a party, put it down somewhere and later don‘t know where they left it, then we have a creative idea for you: Champagne glass markers from FIMO.
And it‘s so simple: Each guest gets their own symbol tied around the stem of the glass – mix-ups are now a thing of the past. So in future, you can fully focus on toasting rather than searching for your glass. Cheers!
Knead half a block of FIMO soft black with your hands until it becomes soft and then form a ball.
Put the ball on baking paper and roll it out with the acrylic roller to a sheet about 3mm thick.
Tip: Work in progress and left-over material should be protected against sun and heat and can be stored in a screw-top jar or in cling film to protect it from dust and dirt.
Now cover the FIMO sheet with small pieces of metal leaf and smooth them down a bit so that they stick well to the FIMO.
Now knead the FIMO sheet covered with metal leaf to a ball. Roll out this ball again with the acrylic roller to a 3mm thick sheet.
This creates fine gold speckles in the FIMO. From now on, always work directly on baking paper, so you don‘t have to lift the motifs again later, but can put them directly on the baking paper in the oven. This prevents your motifs from becoming deformed.
Cut out as many circles as possible with a round cookie cutter.
Tip: if necessary, you can simply knead the remaining FIMO mixture again and repeat the steps.
Now use the small cookie cutters to cut out many different motifs in the middle of the circles. These can be small lucky-charm motifs such as clovers, stars, hearts or the like. It is important that you only cut out each motif once and choose a different motif for each guest.
You don‘t need the small motifs for the pendants, but you can use them as nice scatter decoration for the table.
Harden all pendants and if necessary, also the scatter decoration in the oven for 30 minutes at 110° C / 230° F.
Once everything has cooled down well, you can now attach the pendants with a cord to the champagne or wine glasses of your guests.
Each guest can then choose his favourite motif. This way everyone can find their own glass quickly and there is no more confusion.
