Step-by-step tutorial
Use a pencil to draw your sketch in a blank piece of paper, following the design in the template provided, and starting with the bigger/most important ones. Draw some guidelines to help you keep your words straight. You can also sketch a few decorative elements around the letters at this stage.
Remember to keep you pencil lines light, so you can erase them later.
Use STAEDTLER’s triplus fibre-tip pens to draw the outline of your main words. In this example, we used a faux-calligrapy style for the words “forest” and “discovered”, and a sans serif style for “wonders”.
Fill in your main words with the triplus highlighters. The colour should be lighter than the one you used for the outlines.
Next, use the same highlighters to draw the auxiliary words in a brush lettering style. The tip of these pens is slightly flexible, so you will be able to create thin and thick strokes by changing the amount of pressure on the paper. Don’t’ forget the capital letter “A”.
Now it’s time to decorate our letters! Use STAEDTLER’s triplus fineliners to add thin lines. In this piece, we created a line pattern inside the faux-calligraphy words and a thin shadow in the brush lettering ones. We also drew some leaves around the words “forest” and “discovered”, using the thin strokes as little.
Use the silver metallic pen to create an inline in the sans serif word, “wonders”.
Last, but not least, use the triplus fibre-tip pens and fineliners to create some floral doodles around the words. You can add some light to your piece drawing stars and dots in a bright yellow colour, and some shine with silver metallic dots scattered around the paper.
Don’t forget to show you whimsical lettering composition to your family and friends!
