Print out the motif template. Use a soft pencil (Mars Lumograph, 5B) to evenly shade the back of the template motif.

Precisely place the template (with the front facing up) on the drafting paper. Then trace round the motif using a sharp pencil (Noris, HB). This transfers the motif to the paper. Before removing the template, lift the bottom corners and check that all the lines have been transferred.

Tip: Before drawing the image on sketching paper, use lines, waves and doodles to loosen up your wrist and get familiar with the pigment liner.

Using the black pigment liner, now slowly trace the lines of the upper leaf with the line width of your choice.

The shape of the pen tip allows for dynamic strokes of varying thicknesses that fit well with the motif. Work from left to right and from top to bottom.

Now trace the lower leaves. To finish, carefully erase all the pencil lines.

Now precisely place the template (with the front facing up) on the drafting paper. Then trace round the motif using a sharp hard pencil (Noris, HB).

This transfers it to the paper. Before removing the template, lift the bottom corners and check that all the lines have been transferred.

Start drawing with marker and the middle flower bud. Start at the beginning of the leaf line and trace the line upwards. If you have to stop, it is best to stop at corners or when lines overlap.

Trace the other flowers in the same way. To finish, carefully erase all the pencil lines.
