Preparation

The rules for mixing customised FIMO colours are simple. All you have to do is make sure that all the colours are rolled out in equal thickness and that you always use the same cutter. In this tutorial, a square is one portion.

For these earrings you will need the following three colour mix recipes. For the first colour (top row), you will need one portion FIMO effect Metallic Mother of Pearl and one portion FIMO soft Peppermint. For the second mixing colour (middle row), you will need one portion FIMO soft Pacific Blue and 1/2 portion FIMO soft Sahara. For the third colour mixing recipe (last row), you will need one portion FIMO soft Sahara, one portion FIMO soft Mint and 1/4 portion FIMO soft Peppermint.

Step-by-step tutorial

First mix the third colour mixing recipe, i.e. the one in the last row, and begin with FIMO soft Sahara. Roll out half a block evenly and then cut out a square. Repeat this step with FIMO soft Mint. Repeat the same step with FIMO soft Peppermint. Cut the square into four pieces and take one of them (1/4).

Now knead the pieces you have just cut out together until they create a uniform colour. Then create all mixed colours in the same way as per the above-mentioned recipe.

Now take one of the mixing colours and roll it out into a thin sheet with the acrylic roller.

Tip: Place 2 identical wooden sticks or pencils on the left and right next to the FIMO, so that the FIMO sheet becomes evenly thick. Repeat with all colours.

Now cut each colour into a rectangle. The rectangles should all be approximately the same size.

Place the rectangles on top of each other in any order and then cut all edges straight.

Roll the stack out to an even thickness.

Cut the stack once in the middle and place both halves on top of each other again. Roll the stack out again. Make sure the wooden sticks are placed close to the clay so that the stack does not become too wide when rolling out. Repeat this step several times.

Now carefully compress everything into a square. Next, you can press various objects such as pencils, pen caps, cookie cutters or similar items into the top of the square.

Now take the flexible blade and carefully remove the top layer of the square. Set it aside as you will need it for the next step.

Work on baking paper from now on. Next, take the earring template and cut out the template.

Roll out a little FIMO soft in the colour of your choice to a flat sheet and place the cut out layers on top. Roll the acrylic roller over it to join the layers together. Place the template on the FIMO sheet and cut it out with the scalpel.

Now punch a hole in each cut-out shape so that you can attach the bending rings there later. Now harden your earrings in the oven for 30 minutes at 110 ° C / 230 ° F top/bottom heat.

Once the earrings have hardened and cooled down, you can wet-sand the edges with a sanding sponge.

Now attach the earring studs and bending rings. Done!
