Peach template

Firstly, print out the motif template. Hatch the back of the template motif evenly with a very soft pencil (Mars Lumograph, 5B). The softer the pencil, the better this technique works.

Place the template (with the front side still up) accurately onto the watercolour paper. Then trace the motif with a hard pencil (Noris, HB). This transfers the motif onto the paper. Before you remove the template, fold up the top corners and check that all the lines have been transferred.

Mix titanium white, a little yellow ochre and very little vermilion until you have a light peach tone. Dampen the entire background with the round brush (size 8) and water and then colour it with the paint. Apply step 4 directly!

Add a little more red to the mixture to indicate the shadows to the right of the fruit and leaves. Repeatedly pick up the colour with the brush and splash it over the still-wet background to bring more life into the picture. Then leave the picture to dry.

Paint the pulp with a watery peach colour. Indicate the seeds of the fruit with yellow ochre. Colour the skin of the fruit with a reddish mixture. Let the painting dry again.

Use watery sap green for the leaves (brush size 2). In a few places, a slightly more intense green can be dabbed into the ends of the leaves. To do this, mix juice green with a very small amount of vermilion.

Finally, trace all the pencil lines loosely with the black permanent liner (thickness 0.5).
