FIMOair upcycling idea – flower pot made from PET bottles
30 min Easy

Let's turn old into new
Turning old into new – that is the idea behind a term that is becoming increasingly important: Upcycling. Upcycling is a form of recycling in which unusable items or objects that would be thrown away are transformed into something new. This also applies to our “Face Line Art” flower pots made from old PET bottles. Whether as a trendy decoration or a cute gift – these beautiful flower pots with abstract faces are the absolute eye-catcher.

Step-by-step tutorial

Roll 3⁄4 of a block of FIMOair in the colour terracotta with the acrylic roller into approx. 5 mm thick sheet on a piece of baking paper.

Tip: To achieve an even thickness, you can place a pencil next to the clay being rolled out. The acrylic roller will roll over the pencils and so roll out the FIMOair clay evenly.

Cut off the PET bottle in the middle using a cutter. Make sure you have rinsed the bottle in hot water, dried it well and removed the labels before use.
Now coat the old PET bottle with the FIMOair sheet and smooth out the seams. Cut off the excess modelling clay at the top so that the FIMOair is flush with the edge of the bottle. You can smooth out any cracks, transitions and unevenness with a modelling spatula or with a damp finger.

Using the remains of the FIMOair clay, you can now shape the abstract face in Line Art Style. To do this, always take some FIMOair and roll it out into an even string. Then form a nose, eye and mouth on top of the still moist flowerpot your flowerpot dry at room temperature for at least 24 hours.

Your upcycled flowerpot is ready! If you wish, you can create other vessels in different sizes, shapes and colours. There are no limits to creativity! Have fun!
