FIMO tealight holder in Japandi style

FIMO tealight holder in Japandi style
30 min Easy

Japandi – the aesthetic of this novel trend combines Scandinavian minimalism with clean lines of Japanese home decor. And of course candles are also a must. This DIY idea for a homemade tealight holder with a terrazzo pattern is fun and wonderfully relaxing. The design is kept simple and the colour scheme in woody brown and soft nude tones exudes calm and serenity. This is precisely what characterises the Japandi trend and ensures cosiness despite minimalism.

Step-by-step tutorial

Now cut two strips from each of the desired FIMO soft colours and cut them into many small pieces/confettis with the cutter.

Roll a block of FIMO soft in white with the acrylic roller to form an approx. 3 mm thick sheet and place it on a piece of baking paper.

Now place many confettis irregularly on the white FIMO sheet. It looks especially nice when the colours overlap a little.

Roll the acrylic roller with gentle pressure over it until the coloured confettis are fused with the white FIMO sheet. It's even easier if you place a piece of baking paper on top of it.

Use your large round cookie cutter to cut out a large circle and remove the remnants.

Knead the removed remnants into a strand and roll it with the acrylic roller into an approx. 3 cm wide strip. Now place a few confettis on this FIMO strip and roll the acrylic roller over them using gentle pressure.

Place the strip around your tealight glass, gently press the mixture. Trim the hems and smooth the seam using a modelling stick. Roll the glass back and forth on your work surface with light pressure so that the FIMO connects well with the glass.

Harden the circle as well as your coated tea light jar for 30 minutes in a preheated oven at 110°C/230°F top/bottom heat. Let everything cool down well.

Now you can put a small tealight inside and admire the beautiful candlelight in your homemade artwork.
