DIY flower pot in candy colours
Spring is here – just the time to spruce up those dusty plant pots from the cellar. With FIMO soft in spring pastel colours and a little bit of creativity, you can work wonders. And usher in the spring in style.
Roll out 1 block of FIMO in each of the colours taupe, vanilla and mint into a sheet using the clay machine on setting 2.
Tip: Work in progress and left-over material should be protected against sun and heat and can be stored in a screw-top jar or in cling film to protect it from dust and dirt.
Draw several lines 2.5 centimetres apart on the mint sheet. Mark the lower line at intervals of three centimetres. Do the same for the upper line. The first mark should be 1.5 cm from the left-hand edge. Then cut the sheet from the upper to the lower mark using the blade, to make equilateral triangles. Alternatively, you can create the shapes using a triangular cutter.
To create some variety in the triangles, you can incorporate leaf metal. Lay a sheet of leaf metal on the taupe FIMO sheet and press down carefully using a stencil brush. To create the crackled effect roll over the sheet with the acrylic roller to break up the leaf metal.
Now fix all the triangles to the flower pot. The best way of doing this is to start at the top edge and work towards the bottom.
Once you have applied all the triangles in 2 rows, you can cover the lower part of the flower pot with a sheet of FIMO white.
Now trim any excess FIMO away from the bottom of the flower pot and harden the pot in the oven for 30 minutes at 110° C / 230° F. Leave to cool and you’re done!
