FIMOair leaf bowl - Biophilic design

FIMOair leaf bowl - Biophilic design
25 min Easy

Biophilic design – that means creativity up, stress down!

Whether it’s a walk through the forest or alongside a babbling brook, our stress levels are reduced by nature. Nature has a positive effect on our health and well-being. This is where you can breathe and recharge. We feel comfortable in nature, but most of our lives are spent indoors. The trend of biophilic design brings nature indoors. Whether that's through indoor plants on desks, climbing roses on houses or decorative elements with loving details, such as this bowl made of FIMOair. With its pretty leaf design, it’s a stylish storage option for keys, trinkets or your jewellery. On your next walk in nature, collect different leaves and branches to design your very own bowl with FIMOair.

Step-by-step tutorial

Roll out half a block of FIMOair into an approx. 5 mm thick sheet.

Use the cookie cutter to create a circle in your desired bowl size. Then place a leaf with a beautiful texture or a small branch in the middle of the FIMOair circle and carefully roll over it with the acrylic roller, so that the structure of the leaf or branch is imprinted in the FIMOair. The FIMOair circle must now be placed in the small flat bowl, so that it takes on the shape of the bowl. The bowl must now air dry at room temperature for approx. one day.

Now use acrylic paint in a green shade of your choice. Put a dab of paint in a glass bowl and add water until the mixture is nice and liquid.

Now colour in the leaf or branch. If the imprint is deep enough, the colour mix will run through by itself. Let the paint dry and your bowl is ready.
