Step-by-step tutorial

For the watermelon cane, you need one portion of FIMO soft cherry red and 2 portions of FIMO effect translucent white. Create a colour gradient from these two shades. Roll out one strip per colour with the acrylic roller. Place the strips with the long side against each other so that they overlap slightly. Roll it with the acrylic roller.

Fold the resulting two-colour strip. Make sure that white is on white and red on red. Now roll out this strip with the acrylic roller. Repeat these steps several times until a uniform and gentle colour gradient from red to white has been achieved.

Roll up the strip. Start from the red side and roll the strip tightly to the white side.

Using the same principle, create a colour gradient from green to translucent white.

Now wrap the strip with the green gradient around your red and white roll. Start with the white side and end with green. Carefully roll the resulting cane longer and thinner with your hands. It should be approx. 8 cm long.

Now cut thin slices with a sharp knife or blade. Roll out 3 portions of FIMO effect translucent white with the acrylic roller to form a thin sheet and place it on baking paper. Now place your watermelons on the white FIMO sheet and lightly press them.

Shape a thin string using a little FIMO soft black. Cut off small pieces and shape them into droplets (these are the seeds of your watermelon). Now spread out the seeds in the middle of your watermelons and lightly press them with your finger.

Cut out the earring shapes with a round and an oval cookie cutter. Remove any excess FIMO. Then use a needle to create the holes for the jump rings. Now harden all parts flat on baking paper in the oven at 110°C/ 230° F top and bottom heat for 30 minutes.

Let everything cool down well and then connect the elements with a pair of jewellery tongs and the jump rings.

Finally, glue the earring stud on the back with super glue. Your tropical earrings are now done.
