Step-by-step tutorial

Using a blade, cut two strips from a FIMO leather-effect block in the colour of your choice, e.g. ivory.

Roll out the two strips into a sheet approximately 4 cm wide and 13 cm long. If you want to have a longer loop (approx. 18 cm long), you will need 3 strips from the FIMO block.

Tip: The leather effect is even more striking if you gently move the FIMO leather-effect sheet again with your hands after rolling it out and pull it slightly apart.

Mix colours: You can also mix your own individual colour instead of a single colour to get a little more variety.

Choose two colours of FIMO leather-effect of your choice. Grey and indigo create a cool greyish blue, for example. To do this, take two strips of grey and knead them together with a quarter strip of indigo.

Knead the two colours together until a uniform color shade has been created.
Now harden the FIMO leather-effect sheet for 30 minutes at 130 °C / 266° F upper and lower heat lying on baking paper lying flat in the oven.

While the FIMO is being hardened in the oven, you can make good use of the time and glue packing paper onto your shoe boxes.

Fold the sides of the packing paper into the inside of the box and glue them in place with a glue stick. At the corners, this works best if you cut the paper a little. Do not just do the lower part of the box, but also the lid.

Now print out the templates with the sketching elements and shade them on the back with a pencil in HB or 2B.

Place the template on one side of the shoebox and trace the lines by applying some pressure. This is how you transfer the element to the paper.

Alternatively, you can also transfer the lettering and sketch notes freely by hand.

Then trace the lines you have copied with a Lumocolor flipchart marker in black.

You can add some shadowing with the grey marker and make the motif appear three-dimensional.

Please note: When positioning the elements, remember to leave enough space at the top so that the lid does not cover them!

Now design several sides of the shoebox as desired. Alternate between lettering and symbols.

Now take the cooled FIMO leather-effect sheet and use a ruler and the Lumocolor non-permanent marker in black to draw a rectangle that is 2-3 cm wide and 13-18 cm long.

Cut out the rectangle with scissors. If markers are still visible on the FIMO, you can easily remove them with a moist wipe.

Elongated loop: Place the loop on the side of the storage box lid and slide it towards the middle to create a bow. Mark where the ends of the loop are located.

Then glue the two ends of the loop to the markings with instant adhesive.

Finally, glue the buttons onto the FIMO loop with instant adhesive and your storage box is complete!

Alternative - deep loop: You can use a deep loop instead of an elongated loop. First glue the two ends of the FIMO rectangle together with instant adhesive.

Then glue the loop to the middle of the lid of the box. At the top, attach the button with instant adhesive.
