Mini purse for your dirndl made from FIMO leather-effect
50 min Easy

The perfect accessory for your Oktoberfest trip.
This practical mini purse made of FIMO leather-effect will match your traditional costume and really turn heads at the Oktoberfest. Create your very own one-of-a-kind accessory from FIMO leather‑effect. Decorated with a little heart, beads and some lace to match your dirndl blouse, it’ll be a real eye-catcher.

Step-by-step tutorial

Knead 8 portions (1 block) of FIMO leather‑effect ivory with 1 ½ portions of FIMO leather‑effect nut to create a lovely beige tone. When you‘ve achieved a shade you like, shape it into a flat sheet by hand.

Now pass the sheet through the clay machine, starting on the thickest setting (setting 1). Repeat and roll the sheet thinner and thinner, gradually moving through settings 2, 4, 6 and finally setting 7. Once you‘ve finished, the sheet should be a maximum of 1 mm thick.

Tip: The leather effect stands out even better if you move the FIMO sheet gently by hand after rolling it out, pulling it apart a bit.

Now place the sheet on some baking paper and smooth it out. Cut out the purse template in paper and place it on the FIMO leather‑effect sheet.

Now cut round the template roughly using a knife, making sure you leave a gap of about 1 cm around the edge. You will cut the template out more precisely after you have hardened it.

Tip: Work in progress and left-over material should be protected against sun and heat and can be stored in a screw-top jar or in cling film to protect it from dust and dirt.

Remove the template and harden the FIMO leather‑effect sheet on the baking paper in a preheated oven for 30 minutes at 130 °C / 266° F on upper and lower heat.

When the sheet has cooled completely, transfer the template to the sheet using a Lumocolor non-permanent.

Now take your scissors and cut the purse template out from the FIMO leather‑effect sheet, along with two strips about 0.5 cm wide and 6 cm long.

If you can still see any pen marks, simply remove them with a baby wipe. Then sew the two strips onto the back of the purse, so that you can thread it onto your dirndl apron strings later, by hand or using a sewing machine.

The strips should be attached vertically to the outside of the middle section (see marks on template).

Now fold the FIMO leather‑effect sheet along the fold lines and clip it firmly so that the edges are precisely aligned.

Then sew along both sides, either with a sewing machine or by hand.

Now attach a magnetic metal button to ensure you can close the purse properly.

Finally, stick a FIMO leather‑effect heart, decorated with your own design, over the fastening of your purse.
