A casual everyday accessory.
Whether you only want to put your hair up for a little while to give yourself more freedom of movement, or you‘re looking for a stylish accessory for everyday use or even a special occasion, these FIMO leather‑effect hair slides are the perfect choice. Held in place with a simple lead pencil or coloured pencil, they really catch the eye.

Step-by-step tutorial

Take a block of FIMO leather‑effect in black. Roll it out with the acrylic roller to create a sheet about 0.5cm thick. Alternatively, use the clay machine on setting 2.

Take a block of FIMO leather‑effect in watermelon. Roll it out with the acrylic roller to create a sheet about 0.5cm thick. Alternatively, use the clay machine on setting 2.

Take 5 portions of watermelon and half a portion of black. Knead the black FIMO leather‑effect into the watermelon-coloured FIMO for as long as it takes to achieve a uniform, darker colour. Roll this out with the acrylic roller to create a sheet about 0.5cm thick. Alternatively, use the clay machine on setting 2.

Tip: Work in progress and left-over material should be protected against sun and heat and can be stored in a screw-top jar or in cling film to protect it from dust and dirt.

Now you need your clay machine. Pass each FIMO leather‑effect sheet progressively through the clay machine until you reach setting 3.

Preheat the oven to 130°C / 266 °F and check the temperature with the FIMO oven thermometer, place your FIMO flat on some baking paper on the baking sheet and leave to harden for 30 minutes in the oven at 130°C / 266 °Fon upper and lower heat.

Tip: The leather effect stands out even better if you move the FIMO sheet gently by hand after rolling it out, pulling it apart a bit.

Leave the sheet to cool briefly after hardening and then you can continue working with the FIMO leather‑effect. Take a scalpel or a sharp knife and cut out the shapes of the hair slides using the templates.

Use the FIMO professional drill to make little holes and then enlarge them with a pair of pointed scissors.

Finally, all you have to do is push your pencil or coloured pencil through the FIMO hair slide and your home made hair slide is done.
