Step-by-step tutorial

Gently knead a block of black FIMO leather-effect in your hands and then roll it out into a sheet approx. 1cm thick using the acrylic roller. Now roll this sheet through the clay machine. Start with the thickest setting (level 1).

Repeat and roll the sheet thinner and thinner, gradually through setting 2, 3 and 4, and finally on level 6.

Now place the FIMO leather-effect sheet on baking paper and cut out several bats using the cookie cutter.

Remove the excess clay so that all the FIMO bats are lying flat on baking paper, and harden them in an oven pre-heated to 130 °C / 266° F with upper and lower heat for 30 minutes.

Tip: Work in progress and left-over material should be protected against sun and heat and can be stored in a screw-top jar or in cling film to protect it from dust and dirt.

Let the bats cool down. If you can still see fraying at the edges, you can easily cut it off with scissors. Whether you use them as table decorations, on the front door or in the window, now you can decorate your whole house with bats for Halloween.

They look great - especially when you slide them between fork prongs and place it in the middle of a plate. FIMO leather-effect is wonderfully flexible, so you can even bend the wings of your bats upwards.

Enjoy!
